Fursuit Dance Competition Applications are open!
Music and dancing cut across and unite many different universes and cultures, as Laika and the crew have discovered on their journey! Many enjoy living life in the moment and and have fun moving their whole body around at festivals and events. Others take their dancing much more seriously and practice their choreography so they can show off their skills, moves, and storytelling to an audience. For everyone, it’s a way to not only show a bit of their true selves, but also their cultures as well!
The Dance Competition is an exciting display of dancing skill from dances of all types and cultures! Dancers of all types, no matter their skill level, are invited to apply and show off their best moves to the Festival de Animales!
Rules & Guidelines:
Dancers that sign up are required to attend the dance comp tryout/technical rehearsal to test their music track as well as practice their routine. The rehearsal will be posted on the schedule when the schedule is ready, so please keep an eye out for that!
If there are a large number of applicants, the judges will determine who will appear at the finals based on the performances at the tryouts.
Partial and full fursuits are welcome! Suits must contain Pup masks are also allowed; however, no after dark gear is allowed.
Plan on showing up for the tryouts/technical rehearsal (check the schedule for times) so we can test your music track and you can practice part of your routine and get a sense for the space. If we have more applicants than we have time for, we may select the applicants who go on to the event on the basis of this performance. If you cannot make the tryouts, you will not be automatically cut, but priority will be given to those who can make the tryouts.
