Just like a how a spaceship cannot run without the help of its crew, a convention like StratosFur cannot exist without the help of our staff and volunteers! Everyone, ranging from the runners and stage crew on the floor to the captain (con chair) themselves, contributes something important. And together, everyone on the crew helps ensure that not only everything runs smoothly but also be part of the magic and atmosphere for all of our attendees and travelers on board this journey.
Becoming part of the crew is a great way of giving back to the furry community, while also being fun and rewarding! It is also a great opportunity to see the magic that happens behind the scenes of running a furry convention!

Volunteers (Space Cadets)
For those that want to give a bit of their time to help out, while still having time to enjoy the convention!
Volunteers help out with a variety of tasks in different departments, including setting and cleaning up for events, checking for badges, monitoring convention spaces, and more.
Perks:
Volunteers that log at least 8 hours during the con will receive next year’s Attendee level registration for free!
Mission critical time!
Hours that are worked for the following time periods count as “time and a half” (1.5x the normal rate):
- Set up before con
- After Hours (including dances)
- Teardown after con
Staff (Flight Deck)
For those that want to contribute their all to make the convention (and the journey) happen!
Staff members not only help set up/run/tear down the convention, but also help plan many different aspects of the convention itself, including theme, logistics, hotel, budgeting, and more. As a result, it entails a much bigger time commitment than volunteering does. Each department has different levels of time commitments, as some departments have their duties more at the con, whereas others require time year round.
Staffing allows you to collaborate with fellow like-minded furries, artists, performers, attendees, and more! In addition, you have a say in how the convention is run, and you have the opportunity to showcase yourself and your unique strenghts while gaining valulable experiences for your future endeavors!

Are minors allowed to apply to volunteer or staff?
Minors that are 16 or 17 years of age are allowed to volunteer as a Space Cadet, with parental permission.
To apply for staff, you must be 18 years of age or older.
